Sabor de Highlandtown

A collaboration with UMBC Department of American Studies students and Southeast CDC‘s Highlandtown Main Street program, Sabor de Highlandtown, now in its third year, features the stories of restaurateurs that help tell a part of our community’s history.

The latest additions to this story map highlight:
Maria Alvarado from Diner Latino (3928 Eastern Ave)
Jassi Singh from Filippo’s Restaurant & Lounge (418 S. Conkling St)
Su Zhang from Oriental Wok (3316 Eastern Ave)
Carlos Cruz from Carlos O’Charlies (3508 Eastern Ave)
Asker Mozeb from Queen of Sheba (3314 Eastern Ave)

Be sure to explore them all–both through the stories on the site and grabbing a meal in-person!

A big thanks to the UMBC team and students for the care and attention to each restauranteurs’ journey and their hard work on this map.
