The Southeast CDC is excited to announce we were awarded a Project Restore 2.0 grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development to support the commercial revitalization of the Highlandtown Arts District and Highlandtown Main Street.
This fall, we will help match businesses that are complementary to the arts and entertainment district with vacant commercial properties in Highlandtown.
With this grant, our office will:
- Help match businesses that are complementary to the arts and entertainment district to eligible properties.
- Award funding to up to four businesses* ($20,000 – $60,000) for rent, renovation, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
*Funds may not cover full cost of fit-out. Incoming business should have a plan to cover all costs.
Project Restore Highlandtown participating properties:
We encourage the following business types to apply:
- Arts businesses (ex: galleries, performance space, arts retail, etc.)
- Restaurants and bars
- Retail establishments
- A business use that does not currently exist in the Highlandtown Arts District (See our business directory.)
GET BUSINESS READY!
We will be looking for high quality applications that include a business plan with mission and vision statement, market research, financial analysis and projections, marketing and sales plan, and SWOT analysis, as well as owner resume and experience.

Applications are now open for interested business tenants. Last day to submit an application is October 14th, at 11:59pm.
We HIGHLY encourage all interested applicants attend a tour on any of the available dates before submitting an application.
